Benício Alves de Abreu Filho

Graduated in Pharmacy from the State University of Maringá (1990), Master degree in Microbiology from the State University of Londrina (1996) and PhD in Food Science from the State University of Campinas (2005). He is currently Associate Professor C at Maringá State University and consultant for Acta Scientiarum magazine. Has experience in general Microbiology, focusing on Food Microbiology, Environmental Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, Applied Microbiology and Protozoology. He has been working with biologically active and antimicrobial natural products from plant extracts; environment, bacteriological quality of water; air quality assessment in air-conditioned environments; contaminating bacteria in fish farming; bacteria of agrindustrial interest; thermophilic acid bacteria contaminating industrialized acidic drinks (juices). It guides students of Scientific Initiation, Master and Doctorate, and supervises Post Doctorate internships.
